Drugging Ourselves to Death
America's Deadly Addiction to Pharmaceuticals
Are we drugging ourselves to death? In a recent article, Martha Rosenberg posted a list of dangerous drugs many Americans are addicted to that cause huge adverse risks, including psychosis, arthritis, strokes, heart attacks, cancer and death. Why are so many people putting their health at such risk?
It all has to do with misinformation, the media, and - let's face it - a lot of greed. Here are some ways we have all likely been deceived.
Whether it's the popular show, House, or various websites you run into, holistic medicine is frequently slammed and vilified as quackery conducted by con artists whose only interest is to take your money and who frequently do more harm than good. But who's really doing the harm?
Holistic medicines focus on eating whole foods, and using gentle, noninvasive methods of stimulating the immune system, thereby promoting healing. No so with traditional medicine that uses no end of invasive means to regulate health, including dangerous drugs.
Children in the tropics who grew up eating only coconut, coconut oil, fish and rice had amazingly good health. Coconut oil was also a popular choice in the west for years, because it's a stable oil with a long shelf life. But during the seventies, domestic oil companies - keen on increasing their own profits - started a false advertising campaign vilifying coconut oil as something akin to a greasy death. The end result?
Now more than 30 years later, heart disease and other illnesses have risen rather than decreased, and obesity is an epidemic in this country.
Before McDonalds and other fast food places, people used to cook their own food from scratch. Now, with fast food restaurants on virtually every corner, high cholesterol, diabetes and cancer are on the rise. But these diseases could be greatly reduced with the right diet and exercise, a fact never mentioned by a media bought out by the pharmaceutical companies.
So the next time you start feeling sick, instead of calling your doctor and asking for a prescription, try holistic medicines, such as homeopathy, and while youíre at it, invest in a jar of extra virgin coconut oil. Stir a tablespoon of it into your coffee or tea along with a tablespoon of raw honey. Youíll be amazed at the results!
