Nigerian Dwarf Owner Here...
by: Anonymous

Not sure why your Nigerian Dwarf only gave a cup of milk twice a day! I've had a small herd of ND goats since 2008. My girls average 16 ounces to a quart each in once-a-day milking. If their production goes down to 8 ounces, it's time to dry them off and re-breed. Even my pregnant girls will often give 12 ounces until they are 3 months pregnant, drying off then is essential so the babies can have time to grow before birth.

For the best tasting milk, I provide goat grain and peanut hay, along with pelletized timothy and some coastal. I don't rely on pasture at all, though they have plenty of space to roam.

Goats, my favorite farm animals!!!
